Sand filter
A filter bed. Water in circulation.
A sand filter traps particles in a vessel filled with filter media. Selection depends on actual flow, available space and a suitable route for backwash water.
- Compatible sand or glass
- Backwash cleaning
- Accessible pressure gauge
Inside the vessel
The pump pushes water through the media, trapping particles before water returns to the pool. Sand or glass type, grain size and quantity must match the filter instructions.
In this guideAn installation designed for maintenance
We plan removable unions, a readable pressure gauge and access to the valve. Backwash discharge is designed for local rules and kept separate from ground drainage.
In this guideMaintenance to understand
Clean-filter reference pressure helps identify clogging. Backwash and rinse follow the manual. Stop the pump before moving the multiport valve.
In this guideIs it the right choice for you?
This option suits owners who want valve-operated cleaning and have suitable drainage. We compare allowable flow, media volume and upkeep with a cartridge before quoting.
Can glass replace sand?
Only if the filter instructions permit it, with suitable grades and loading. The quantity is not automatically the same.
Should the filter be backwashed weekly?
Frequency depends on dirt loading, pool use and the manual. Pressure and flow are more useful indicators than a fixed calendar.
Does a more powerful pump filter better?
Not necessarily: excessive flow can exceed the filter capacity. Pump, filter and pipework are sized together.
