Diatomaceous earth filter
Fine filtration calls for care.
A layer of media coats internal grids to trap small particles. This filtration requires a precise model-specific cleaning and recharging procedure.
- Grids and media working together
- Recharge after cleaning
- Used media collected
How particles are trapped
Diatomaceous earth forms the filtering layer on the grids. Loading depends on the filter: inaccurate dosing or absent media can impair filtration.
In this guideDisposal is part of the design
The room must allow vessel opening and grid cleaning. Media discharged during washing is collected; media and water disposal follow manufacturer instructions and local rules.
In this guideMonitor pressure and elements
Cleaning follows dirt loading and the manual. Inspect grids and renew media according to the specified procedure; never open a pressurized vessel.
In this guideChoose with upkeep in mind
We consider this option when the desired filtration fineness justifies the extra work. Space, media handling and your availability are compared with sand and cartridge options.
Is upkeep the same as a sand filter?
No: media recharging and collection are additional tasks specified by the manual.
Can used media go down a drain?
It must be collected and disposal planned before installation. Do not assume discharge into a drain is allowed.
Does fine filtration replace treatment?
No. Trapping particles does not replace disinfection and water-balance checks.
